About the product:
e-Shift is a computer based telecommunication system and it provides
financial messaging services. More importantly, It uses the Message Formats set
by INFINET (Indian Financial Network) User Group for inter-bank message
transfer, which in turn closely adopts the SWIFT (Society for Worldwide
Inter-bank Financial message Transfer) message formats. Thus the product
provides a user friendly mechanism for transmitting remittance messages that
are understandable to banking industry throughout the country by the use of
standard message formats in a manner recognized and accepted by all member
banks. The product can interface with Pentabank, e-Remittance and any other TBA
solution.
The need for the product:
Banks undertake to effect remittances on behalf of their resident and
Non-Resident customers who expect the funds to be placed at the disposal of the
beneficiary in the shortest possible time. Customarily funds transfer are
effected by the banks by using conventional instruments like DD, TT, etc.,
which though time tested can lead to duplication in payment and also gives
scope for perpetration of fraud. There is a need for a computerized solution,
which not only expedites payment but also eliminates the opportunity for
commission or misappropriation. Further in the case of trade related
activities, the process of transmission of documentary credits / issue of
guarantees will need to be automated. eShift meets this requirement.
