Anywhere Branch Banking
Introduction:
Welcome to the world of Any Branch Banking. Advancement in technologies has led
to widespread improvements in the range of services offered by banks to their
valuable customers. The new paradigm followed is that the customer is no more
the customer of a particular branch but rather the customer of the bank. Each
customer can transact on his account from virtually any branch of the bank.
In order to keep growing with the technological trend, PentaSoft Technologies
has come up with a product that supports Any Branch Banking for its banking
product, PentaBank.
Anywhere Branch Banking Server (ABBS)
component will be installed at every branch where 'Anywhere Banking' facility
is needed. These branches will be connected through a centralized server called
eSWITCH by Leased / ISDN / VSAT lines
eSwitch handles the request from each branch and routes them to the respective
branches. The Switch server also acts as an alternative for a branch when the
branch operations are closed for the day.
The approach here is robust client server architecture with ISO 8583 messaging
as the backbone. This is together coupled with tight security by implementing
128 bit DES algorithms.
Since the messaging are based on standard format future enhancements or
interfaces with POS (Point of Sale), ATM (Automatic Teller Machines) or any
debit gateways could be built very easily.
Salient Features:
-
Supports 365 * 24 * 7 banking hours
-
Each branch maintains its own database and hence any problem at the Switch will
not affect the functioning of the individual branch operations
-
Provides after branch hour services
-
Maintains data consistency and integrity through reversal request both at the
switch level and at the branch level
-
Encrypted messages that prevents any hacking or fraudulent activities
-
Open architecture - Can be extended to any other debit gateways

ABB Transaction Types:
The following ABB transaction types are supported by the ABBS component. All
the transaction types are applicable only for Savings/Current and Running
Accounts.
1. Cash Withdrawal/Cash Deposit
This transaction type allows ABB customers to withdraw cash or deposit cash
from/to his account from a different branch. For example, a customer of Branch
A can go to Branch B and withdraw money from his account or deposit to his
account in Branch A.
2. Credit/Debit Funds Transfer
Credit/Debit
Funds Transfer is similar to cash withdrawal/cash deposit except that the
customer can transfer funds from his account to another account of the current
branch. For example, a customer of Branch A can visit Branch B and request for
transfer of funds from his account in Branch A to any of the account in Branch
B or vice versa.
3. Balance Enquiry
The
ABB customer can enquire about his balance in the account from virtually any
branch of the bank (provided the branches are connected to the switch). Note
that the balance enquiry will only let you know the clear balance in the
account with considering the passing pending or shadow balance of the account.
4. Statement Enquiry
The transaction listing of the customer detailing the last 'n' transactions
(where the value of 'n' is defined in the ABBS profile) will be retrieved in
the chronological order.
5. Cheque Status Enquiry
A customer would have issued cheques to various parties and would like to know
whether those cheques have been cleared or not from any branch of the bank.
Note that this option does not consider the outward clearing cheques.
6. Stop Payment Instruction
ABB customers can instruct the branch to stop the payment of the cheques issued
by the customer to any third party from any branch. The instruction would be
executed in the concerned branch immediately (incase the branch is online and
if the branch is in offline mode, the next working day when offline
transactions are processed the instructions will be executed).
7. Cheque Book Request
ABB Customers can request for an issue of chequebook from any branch of the
bank. The request would then be directed to the concerned branch, which takes
care of sending the chequebook to the customer's place.
